Rollup's CAD Annotations feature enhances collaboration by allowing users to leave comments directly on various file formats, including CAD models, 2D drawings, ECAD files, datasheets, documents, and images. This functionality ensures feedback remains contextual and precise, facilitating efficient design iterations.

Key Features

  • Modern Comment Threads: Users can tag teammates, resolve comments, and track discussions within the 3D environment, keeping conversations tied to specific geometry.

  • Comprehensive CAD Viewer Tools: The CAD Viewer includes features such as measuring components, sectioning assemblies, exploding views, and changing render modes. Users can save and share views with colleagues for streamlined collaboration.

How To Create Annotations

To get started with CAD Annotations, upload your CAD files to Rollup and utilize the annotation tools to enhance your design review process.

  • Go to the Modeling section.

  • Click on Attachments.

  • Click the "Add Attachment" button and upload your CAD file.

  • Wait for the file to complete its conversion. Once the conversion is successful, a diamond icon will appear. Click the diamond icon to open the CAD detailed view.

  • In the CAD detailed view, click on Message to create an annotation.

  • You can create multiple annotations by highlighting the parts you’re analyzing. Tag your colleagues for further review. A notification, including a screenshot, will be sent to their inbox, prompting them to check and analyze the specified part.

  • You’ll receive replies directly from your teammates on specific annotations, each of which includes the part identification (such as part number or name), precise location within the CAD model (including coordinates, view angle, or highlighted area), and details on design concerns, material specifications, or issues needing further analysis, facilitating collaborative review and feedback.
